Rajasthan: 4 killed, 13 injured as tractor–trolley overturns in Baran

At least four people were killed while 13 others sustained injuries when a tractor–trolley carrying around 18-20 members of a marriage party overturned after being hit by a trailer truck on NH-27 in Baran on Tuesday morning.

KOTA: At least four people were killed while 13 others sustained injuries when a tractor–trolley carrying around 18-20 members of a marriage party overturned after being hit by a trailer truck on NH-27 in Baran on Tuesday morning.
"The mishap occurred when a speedy trailer truck loaded with around 7-8 tractors hit from behind a tractor trolley carrying around 18 'baratis' (members of a wedding party)," said Rajesh Khatana, SHO at Baran Sadar police station.

"Four members of the wedding party, identified as Bhuribai (65), Chandrakala (55), Sushila (40) and Ramkaran Sain (60), all residents of Hanuwatkheda village under Anta police station of Baran district, were killed on the spot while 13 others including men, women and children sustained injuries in the mishap," he added.
"On being informed of the mishap, police reached to the spot and took the injured to Baran district hospital, where the doctors declared the 4 people brought dead and referred the two critically injured persons to hospital in Kota while 11 others injured persons are undergoing treatment in hospital in Baran," he further said.
The SHO said, "The tractor-trolley driver Naresh Meena told police that trailer truck ran over the people fallen on the road from the tractor-trolley. The tractor-trolley overturned after being hit and went to other side over the divider of the road.

"Police detained the driver of the trailer-truck and lodged a case under relevant sections against him," he said.
The SHO said that the four bodies were later in the morning handed over to the family members after post-mortem and further investigation into the matter is under way.
"The wedding party members were returning to the home village Hanuwatkheda after performing wedding ceremony in Batawda village of the district on Monday night," he added.
On information of the mishap, state mining minister and local MLA Pramod Jain Bhaya, Baran SP Kalyanmal Meena, district collector Narendra Gupta also went to the spot and later supervised the medical facilities at the hospital, the SHO said.
Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, took to the twitter and expressed grief over the deaths in the mishap and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
